Now that it is getting warmer and people are taking off their hats we can see many cases of aerated or total alopecia, i.e. either patchy or total hair loss without any apparent reason.

Upon investigation, it has been discovered that in many cases the sufferers, especially when they are children and adolescents, have recently had a Hepatitis B inoculation, or a booster.

It seems clear that there is a relationship and, even though the problem is often reduced by the administration of Selenium, Vitamin C, Zinc and supplements deriving from fruit and vegetables

We must seriously reflect about the immunological or toxicological causes of the phenomenon which requires anti-reactive treatment (with Blackcurrant for example) or detoxifying treatment (with Inositol ). There are still doubts as to the nature of the relationship.

These are in fact the substances that should reinforce our immune systems, not only defending us from Hepatitis B but also from powerful viruses such as Ebola, and influenza bird flu. viruses such as

The possibility of immune system reactions to inoculation against hepatitis B was dramatically described last year after a careful elaboration of the data about adverse reactions.

The authors (Geier MR et al., Autoimmunity 2005 Jun;38(4):295-301) point out that when dealing with a potentially effective vaccine the issue is not whether we oppose it or are blindly in favour of it but whether we are able to make the (true) percentages of risk known to the consumer

And the chance that the hepatitis B inoculation might contribute to the development of an autoimmune disorder (such as, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, optical neuritis, etc.) is in fact relatively high and should be known by those who use the vaccines.

And yet these data are hardly communicated at all and those patients who refer to physicians with reactions to the vaccine that did not occur immediately after the inoculation, risk being considered dreamers and visionaries if they claim that there is a connection.

We should bear this in mind because it seems that very soon a compulsory vaccination against the bird flu will be proposed, although at present there is no scientific data of any kind that could justify this.

As far as the link between vaccination and hair loss is concerned, this data is absolutely not new even though almost no one has made public mention of it so far. Many authors claim that there is a correlation; including Geier MR et al, (Expert Opin Drug Saf 2003 Mar;2(2):113-22) who evaluated the effects of the hepatitis B vaccination.

Even earlier than this, in 1997, in the magazine of the American Medical Association (Wise RP et al, JAMA 1997 Oct 8;278(14):1176-8) there were references to a strong correlation between hair loss and the hepatitis B vaccination.

What to do

The first thing we should do is pause to think: before administering a vaccination the risks and advantages should always be considered, and people should be able to make a free decision.

If one has to take a vaccine, whether by choice or compulsorily, homeopathic medicine always suggests two remedies for reducing the possibility of negative reactions.

For children as well as adults I recommend taking Sulphur 30 CH (5 granules before the vaccination) and a tube dosage of Thuia 200 CH after the vaccination (within 2-3 days). In between these two treatments I suggest 3 granules of Orthohistaminum 9CH (see below) two or three times a day.

Orthohistaminum 9 CH and Ribes Nigrum (either as blackcurrant oil or as Ribes Nigrum 1DH) are more effective for adults.

I continue the treatment for as long as 7-8 days. In the case of negative reactions (erythema, skin rashes, alopecia or pains in the joints) the treatment should be continued for longer.

It also is of fundamental importance to supplement the diet with those minerals that improve the immune system. Manganese, Zinc, Copper, Selenium and Vitamin C are the basic ones.

Vegetable supplements (such as Bio45) supply all the vitamins and minerals that the vegetable world offers us to recover from illnesses and keep healthy (especially for those who do not eat enough fruit and vegetables)
