This remedy is generally used in extract form and can be found at the herbalist’s or at the pharmacy under the title Ribes Nigrum 1DH MG drops (ribes nigrum glycerite extract).

Extracts are produced by many companies. We recommend the Boiron preparation because of the company’s experience and reputation for quality.
Although they are difficult to find, non-alcohol dried plant extracts are available on the market.
Dosage
The standard use is around 40-50 drops, twice a day. The remedy may be taken for prolonged periods.
During the acute phase, the dosage can even be increased to 40-50 drops, 5-6 times a day for several days. The dosage is progressively decreased as the patient’s condition improves.
The dosage for children is reduced to 20 drops instead of 40-50.
It is important to note that the classic extract is slightly alcoholic, and may therefore be unsuitable for persons who are yeast intolerant, or for those who wish to or must avoid alcohol. In this case, the glycerite extract may be substituted by Ribes nigrum (Blackcurrant) oil in capsules or by the alcohol-free product mentioned above.
