Cochrane, one of the major independent authorities on epidemiology research review, advanced strong criticism on the politics of preventive vaccination practiced in many countries. Tom Jefferson published a series of comments on BMJ (and oddly enough, the American government agency PubMed didn’t publish the extract) about the ineffectiveness of the preventive action of the flu vaccine.
The criticism that is gathering around the flu vaccine campaign is so great that even the Corriere della Sera online chose to offer an audio interview with Dr Tom Jefferson, one of Cohrane's directors in Italy (follow this link to listen ).
In other occasions, Eurosalus has already praised the significance of Cochrane's analyses, especially with regard to the total ineffectiveness of the flu vaccine on children under the age of two (see the link in the related news on the right).
Dr. Jefferson has recently published various works on the ineffectiveness of preventing flu complications in hospital operators as well as on the fact that the flu vaccine is not able to reduce the worldwide mortality rate of vaccinated persons from other pathologies.
It comes as a surprise that PubMed printed only the title, but not the contents of his last article that was published on the British Medical Journal, in this way preventing a large number of people from reading about the scientific motivations behind it.
As we've been saying for years and as Jefferson says in the interview, the choice to vaccinate or not should be left up to the people. However, they also have the right to be adequately informed about the benefits as well as the risks involved in the vaccination
