The symptom that characterizes this diet is tiredness, an intense fatigue resulting from various causes: milk intolerance, which holds the intestine in a state of more or less chronic inflammation, stealing energy and resistance to infection to the body, the paradoxical “drunkenness” due to yeasts which steals strength and lucidity. If we add excess of salt to this situation, the result is hypertension, swollen ankles, breathing issues (asthma), and further fatigue.
Of course there are other symptoms and signs, such as colitis and/or constipation, gastric problems, circulatory and skin problems (acne, mycoses), polycystic ovaries, fat accumulated in the abdominal area; but the real key to this diet is mental and physical fatigue. This state of fatigue can improve rapidly when the intolerance load is lightened. Excess weight - water and fat - can also decrease quite quickly.
What does “avoiding milk, salt and yeast” mean?
First of all, salt is not to be eliminated, since it's present within the body and in many natural foods. However, many industrial foods contain large quantities of added salt, so the goal is to keep it under control.
For a person who is intolerant, avoiding milk (on diet days) means avoiding all milk of animal origin (cow, goat, sheep, skimmed, pre-digested...) and all related products such as yogurt, whey, cheese, butter, cream and ice cream. It's also important to pay special attention to manufactured foods since many of them contain milk as a component.
Concerning yeast, ingredients labels don't help: you also need to avoid mushrooms, alcoholic beverages, and honey. If you place a mixture containing flour in the oven, even if it doesn't contain yeast, the flour will ferment anyway. As well, if you leave fruit cocktails and juices too long in the refrigerator you'll find them fermented.
How can a person manage the milk, salt and yeast diet?
You'll be pleased to know that there are many tasty things that you can eat. Except for mushrooms, you can eat almost every fruit or vegetable in the world. Meat, fish and fresh eggs are fine, too. You may choose many types of vegetable “milk”: almond, rice, soy, chestnut, oats... some are also readily available in form of yogurt or ice cream. Pasta is allowed as well as rice, potatoes and polenta.
