Can children take Oscillococcinum, too? PDF Print E-mail

Good evening.
First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your website. I find it extremely useful and most of all, effective. I would like to ask you if the anti-flu remedy, Oscillococcinum 200 K used in combination with Influenzinum can be used for treating children.
I am the mother of 2 little girls, ages 4 and 7 who unfortunately get sick continuously (cold, cough, fever).
Thank you in advance...

Dear Reader,
Oscillococcinum 200 K can be used on children of any age as an excellent preventive cure for winter flu forms.

A study conducted by Cochrane (a scientific association of unquestioned seriousness) confirmed that the use of this homeopathic medicine reduces the duration of flu symptoms, underlining the importance of further in-depth studies in this direction. As far as our experience is concerned, this data is true for adults as well as children.

In conclusion, we wish to add only one critical comment: in 2005 the National Counsel of Bioethics (nominated by the government and therefore a political and not scientific body) ruled that children should not be treated with complimentary medicine because they are unable to give their informed consent and that parents and pediatricians must rely exclusively on the so-called scientific therapies.

In the very days in which we are writing this letter, the FDA has signaled a serious alarm for the risk of inducible neurological disturbances in children, linked to a group of classic medicines such as Tamiflu, known for its wide spread use thanks to the alarm about the aviary flu launched by the media.

We continue to prefer a softer medical methodology and teach people how to use it in full respect of those who also wish to use classic medicines.

Therefore do feel free to use Oscillococcinum on children, just be sure that both parents are in agreement.

Cordially,

Gabriele Piuri and dr. Attilio Speciani
