Who's afraid of the big, bad flu? PDF Print E-mail

Just like every other year, the media has started its promotional campaign for the flu vaccine, passing it off as if it were totally innocuous.  We know that this isn't the case.  There are many, much safer and effective ways to prepare the body for facing the most common infections of the cold season, including those caused by modified viruses that are becoming alarmingly frequent.

Let's take a look at them and discover why.

The 5 pillars that make up the basis for winter illness prevention are:

Many of these topics have already been amply discussed in other articles published on our website (click on the relative link).  We'll add a few brief comments here.

Protect yourself with minerals

Recent studies show how mineral and vitamin supplements actually function better than a specific antibiotic in combating infections, even those caused by new bacteria and viruses (like SARS).  This is even true for individuals with no apparent nutritional deficiencies

If you use the right supplements, you get sick less often, and if you do get sick, the symptoms are much blander.  Therefore, it's a good idea to make use of this resource to improve our defense capabilities while we're preparing for the winter and the typical pathologies that come along with it.

The ideal mineral supplement for this type of prevention is a mixture of Oxiprolinates: Manganese, Copper and Zinc, available in this composition, produced by DRIATEC. Take a 2,5 measure per day beginning in September/ October.  In the colder period, we suggest that you take 2 tablespoons per day.  It's a good idea to associate this supplement with a tablet per day of vitamin C (C-tard, C complex 500...).

Exercise

According to various studies, a half an hour per day of physical exercise four times a week is a powerful stimulant for the immune system and has a protective action against viral and bacterial infections.  The type of exercise that has the most positive impact on the general conditions of the immune system is moderate and prolonged exercise: walking at a brisk pace, slow running, prolonged swimming, bicycling are activities that anyone can perform.

In addition, deep breathing exercises, like those described in the book "Resistere all'inquinamento" ("Surviving pollution"), facilitate body cleansing and help maintain the vitality of the respiratory apparatus's functions.

Delicate treatments that are respectful of the immune system

Once you begin a correct prevention program, remember that even when you treat illnesses - whether flu or fever,  cold or a cough - with respectful homeopathic and phyto-therapeutic remedies, these medicines encourage the development of immunological defenses instead of substituting and thereby neutralizing them.

This fact is demonstrated by the many children who, when treated in this way, have a much lower number of school absences than their peers who are regularly treated with antibiotics.

This suggestion is valuable for everyone (without excluding the possibility of taking more aggressive medicines if a particularly serious pathology makes them necessary).

However, with regard to the specific problem of colds, we can offer some suggestions that you can find by following the links on this page.

An additional aid for people who are most at risk

Starting this year, at the SMA studio and various other Italian DRIA centers, a new instrument is available for identifying the most effective diet for people who are subject to recurring infections throughout the winter.

As part of the new specific DRIA tests, the mini DRIA recurring infections test examines 10-14 basic foods/substances in order to identify, remove or regulate possible factors linked to food intolerances that could contribute to the appearance or continuation of the problem.

The test is especially suitable for children with strong and recurring catarrhal forms, youths defined as having "weak bronchial tubes" and adults who have recurring infective forms regardless of repeated antibiotic treatments and the absence of bodily alterations that would justify them.

Clearly, the test is suitable for persons without any other definite physical causes of immune deficiency (persons undergoing cortisone treatment for other illnesses, people diagnosed with immune deficiency, etc.).

A specific mini DRIA is also available for persons who suffer from sinusitis.

Why the vaccine worries us more than the flu itself

First of all, providing that the flu vaccine is useful (but this fact remains to be seen, most of all when the viral strain responsible for the epidemic is different from the one that the virologists expected) it is not completely innocuous.  Numerous studies, though poorly disclosed, point out that the possible hazards of the flu vaccine are potentially serious (in rare cases) such as neuritis, neuralgia, neurotropic or allergy-like reactions.

What's more, vaccinations are an interference with the body's delicate balance.  The immune defenses of individuals without serious health problems tend to become stronger every time that they are confronted with (and overcome) an infection.

We're not trying to dissuade people from using the vaccine if they are convinced of its usefulness, but rather offer data that can enable people to make a responsible choice.

Today we know that coming into contact with viruses and bacteria causes an increase in the level of endogenous interferon. Moreover, it facilitates the activity of some defensive cells (for example those that hinder the emergence of tumors), improving the body's defenses, not just from flu but also from certain degenerative forms.

Cure asthma by freeing the intestine of molds and yeasts
bread-closeup.jpg
To what degree do molds, yeasts and fungi affect the origin of asthma? A detailed study which was one of the first published in 2009 reminded doctors that fermentation, the presence of yeasts and molds in the air, in the intestine and probably on the skin can cause and maintain asthma. Keeping the development of molds in check can aid in curing asthma.
