Let’s face it, the impact of public advertising is heavy. But regardless of often misleading information (every year the incoming flu is supposed to be the most dramatic one of the century, the flu vaccine is falsely presented as having no side effects and no one ever remembers that it’s possible to improve our immune defenses with other instruments) many people are dubious.
In many cases, the proven reality is different: side by side with persons who have gone through the winter without getting sick there are also friends and relatives who often came down with something shortly after being vaccinated; many friends who were vaccinated caught the flu and some complained of strange effects that would be best to avoid.
As a result, information about stimulating the immune system by natural means comes back into fashion: the use of minerals like Manganese-Copper-Zinc or Oximix 1, the strong action of supportive Vitamin C supplements (Selenium vitamin C, Cellfood Vitamin C+), the use of the so-called homeopathic “vaccine” performed with Iver Oti 200 accompanied by Oscillococcinum or Anascoccinum, the support of phyto-therapeutics like Echinacea and Melaleuca Essential Oil, veritable pillars of natural defense against infections. Actually, apart from asking ourselves whether the vaccine is effective or not, unfortunately we should consider clear scientific data that confirms the absolute uselessness of the vaccine on children under two years ( even though we are always urged to vaccinate children even if they are only 6 months old!). What’s more, the estimated effectiveness of the flu vaccine on adults is around 35% ( which is quite little, all considered and maybe it’s not worth taking the risks involved in the flu vaccination). Perhaps we should really ask ourselves if it’s so harmful to get a little sick.
Numerous studies have shown that, if wisely regulated, positive effects result from coming into contact with viruses and bacteria. So here is a way to activate our defenses in preparation for the cold season.

This year we decided to point out some cornerstones of immunological stimulation that everyone can put into effect:
- The use of the appropriate minerals
- A control diet at least once a week
- Increase in the consumption of fruit and vegetables
- Maintenance of an adequate level of physical activity.
Today we know that coming into contact with viruses and bacteria causes an increase in the level of endogenous interferon in every person. It also encourages the activity of some defensive cells (for example those that contrast the birth of tumors), thus improving the body’s defenses, not just against flu, but also against certain degenerative forms.
In light of this, the continual proposal of the flu vaccine by some doctors and the television news as the only possible solution cannot be heard without causing suspicion. Not just because its effectiveness is null when the flu strain that is responsible for the epidemic is different from the one expected by the virologists, but also because a vaccine represents an interference in the body’s delicate balance. When it isn’t indispensable, as it is in the case of persons who have weak or deteriorated immune systems, we ought to ask ourselves if our fear of flu really justifies exposing ourselves to side effects (such as neuritis, neuralgia, allergic or neurotropic reactions) whose short term and especially, long term consequences are usually not mentioned (see related news on the right).
Another method of preventive action, which isn’t necessarily an alternative to the vaccine but is, however rich in beneficial instead of harmful side effects, is based on the strengthening of the immune system. In most cases, this will help you get through the winter in good health and reduce to a minimum the discomfort brought about by being in contact with the most common viruses of winter illnesses.
Let’s take a close look at how to prepare our defenses for the cold season.
Minerals
The ideal mineral supplement is a mixture of Oxiprolinates in the form of Manganese-Copper-Zinc to be taken in the dosage of 1 2,5 ml tablespoon per day starting from September/October. During the colder months, we suggest that you increase the dosage to 2 tablespoons per day. Another preparation that has recently become available and has an even wider range of minerals is Oximix 1. The dosage for this preparation is 1 5 ml dose per day.
Homeopathic “vaccine” preparations
As an alternative to the classic vaccine, you can use “vaccines” prepared according to homeopathic methods, following one of the three following prevention schemes. All start from October ( but can also begin in November or in the first days of December, depending on the season, excellent levels of protection are obtained) and end in January.
- Use 4 dose tubes (TD) of Influenzinum 200 CH. These may be taken, for example, on the first Sunday of the month (or even Tuesday would be fine) in order to use them on a monthly basis. On the other Sundays (or Tuesdays...) of the month, take a dose tube of Oscillococcinum 200 K in the morning on an empty stomach.
- For a period of nine Sundays, take a dose of and a dose of Anascoccinum or Oscillococcinum 200K on alternate Sundays.
- Use a product similar to Influenzinum 200, such as Iver Oti 200 (all prepared with strains from the previous flu viruses as well as that of the current year), and 9 doses of Oscillococcinum 200K (Boiron) or of Anascoccinum (Oti) : take a dose every Sunday, following this scheme: Iver on the first Sunday, Oscillococcinum on the second and third, Iver on the fourth, fifth and sixth like the second and third, Iver on the seventh Sunday and the eighth and ninth like the second and third. A similar procedure can be used leaving the space of a week between doses of Iver. In this case, three weeks of Oscillococcinum are followed by 1 dosage of Iver. Both systems work well.
In addition to the minerals, a phyto-therapeutic product such as Echinacea may be used in the form of mother tincture (15-20 drops once a day during the period of exposure to the virus) or in tablet form (1-2 tablets per day). An aroma-therapeutic such as Melaleuca Essential Oil (Tea Tree Oil) may also be used as well Cajeput or Naiouli oils. All of these oils have an intense antiseptic action (recommended as a fragrance for living spaces during the flu season, but they can also be taken orally when the risk of flu is greatest).
For those persons who are subject to recurring bouts of winter illnesses, perhaps accompanied by long recovery periods or various types of complications, an investigation into possible food intolerances and an appropriate rotational diet could be useful. Everyone can boost their immune system’s activity with a simple cleansing diet that consists of one day per week of abstention from the most common foods in our diet: milk, dairy products and foods that contain milk, hydrogenated vegetable fats, yeasts and sugar.
Fruit and vegetables
An increase in the consumption of fruit and vegetables, raw whenever possible, can be of great help in stimulating our organic defenses. Although vitamin supplements are also useful, the combination of foods that contain them naturally favors the body’s use of them. Clearly, if these foods are organically grown, their nutritional value is much higher. What’s more, if you eat even a small quantity before every meal, you have the added advantage of activating the immune cells in the intestine (one of the body’s frontlines of defense).
Physical exercise
According to various studies, a half an hour a day of physical exercise four times per week has a strong stimulating effect on the immune system and helps protect against viral and bacterial infections. The type of activity that has the most positive impact on the general condition of the immune system is prolonged, moderate exercise: walking at a brisk pace, slow running, prolonged swimming and bicycling are activities that everyone can do.
Respectful and delicate cures
Once an adequate program of prevention has been started, remember that even when you treat any possible illnesses -from the flu, to a cold to bronchitis (see the individual symptoms on the site search motor) - with respectful preparations like homeopathic or phyto-therapeutic remedies, you are contributing to the development of your immune defenses instead of neutralizing them with a substitute. Evidence of this can be seen in the lower incidence of school absences in children who are cured in this way compared to their peers who are regularly treated with antibiotics.
