Orthohistaminum PDF Print E-mail

Orthohistaminum is a noteworthy homeopathic remedy that is used to treat allergic inflammation and all of the inflammatory symptoms of allergies.

This remedy can be formulated in individualized decimal dilutions (5DH, 6DH, 7DH, 8DH, 9DH) in microcrystalline cellulose capsules. The proper formulation is established after a DRIA test, and for this reason, the dosage that is prescribed is personal and should only be used by the person who was tested (a typical situation could be the treatment for itching).

However, Orthohistaminum is one of the most effective remedies for allergic and inflammatory symptoms and may be kept on hand and used by all as First Aid in some situations.

It is generally prepared in granules of 9 CH (it may also be specially prepared in other dosages) and can easily be found in the pharmacy (specify the concentration).

For information on how to take homeopathic remedies, refer to the main menu under the link FAQ Homeopathy.

Dosage

The standard dosage is usually 3 granules to be taken twice a day, it is especially important to use this remedy during acute phases.

During acute phases (edema, mosquito stings, itching, allergic reactions) the remedy may even be used every 10-20 minutes reducing the frequency as the symptoms begin to subside. Orthohistaminum 9 CH is often used along with desensitizing therapies for seasonal allergies during days of high pollen concentration. It doesn’t create dependence like normal antihistamines.

Duration

The duration of the treatment may be long (in chronic or recurring forms) and is generally prescribed by the doctor. When this remedy is used without a prescription, a doctor’s advice should be sought for treatments lasting more than one month.
