Coenzyme Q10 PDF Print E-mail

Coenzyme Q10 is one of the substances that are necessary for the proper functioning of the mitochondria. Mitochondria are organelles present in all cells that allow the cells to breathe and use the energy available to them.

The powerful action of Coenzyme Q10 is its ability to aid cell respiration. The regeneration of the function of the mitochondria, the “lungs” of each cell, allows the cell to re-establish its original energetic capacity. In a sense, the cells are rejuvenated and able to “breathe” and utilize their energy stores.

For this reason, there are many uses for Coenzyme Q10. In the first place it is used as a supplement for patients who are using statins. Unfortunately, statins (cholesterol lowering drugs) also inhibit the production of Coenzyme Q10, thus demonstrating that the detrimental effect of statins on muscles depends on this deficiency.

Other important uses include treatment for sunburn, skin ageing, fatigue and asthenia, and the increase in muscular strength.

Generally speaking, Coenzyme Q10 can be useful for any anti-oxidant treatment or for the reactivation of proper cellular functioning (for example, after chemotherapy).

Suggested products

Our medical staff recommends two products that are of the same quality but have different costs and uses. Both of these items are produced by Solgar and are highly effective.

The first is Maxi Coenzyme Q10 available in bottles containing thirty 20 mg capsules.

The second is CoQuTen, available in bottles of fifty 20 mg capsules, but produced with nano-technologies, that is, an advanced technology in which the Coenzyme Q10, that has a natural tendency to link itself to fat, transforms itself into anutrient that is soluble even in water thereby tripling its ability to be utilized by the body. Practically speaking, the Coenzyme Q10 molecules are prepared in micelies (tiny agglomerates of a substance) that are able to pass through the intestinal barrier in an immediate and complete manner.

In essence, 20 mg of CoQuTen is equivalent to over 60 mg of normal Coenzyme Q10. This fact justifies the higher cost of the product. The use of this preparation obtained by way of nano-technologies is highly recommended in situations where a strong antioxidant action is needed as in the case of tumor pathologies or the regeneration of skin lesions (whether for aesthetic or the rapeutic purposes).

Dosage

The standard dosage is one 20 mg capsule, even for extended periods: the choice of product, whether normal or with nano-technologies, depends on the effects that one desires. When used together with statins, the dose is one capsule per day for the period in which they are being used.

During the acute phase, the dosage can be increased to 1 capsule 2 or 3 times a day for a few days (for example in the case of sunburn or burns). Afterwards, the dosage should progressively decrease as the symptoms subside.

The dosage for children is generally inferior, but it depends on the medical instructions. Usually, one 20 mg capsule can be taken for several weeks in the case of disturbances such as chronic inflammatory forms like reactive arthritis or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.

Cure asthma by freeing the intestine of molds and yeasts
bread-closeup.jpg
To what degree do molds, yeasts and fungi affect the origin of asthma? A detailed study which was one of the first published in 2009 reminded doctors that fermentation, the presence of yeasts and molds in the air, in the intestine and probably on the skin can cause and maintain asthma. Keeping the development of molds in check can aid in curing asthma.
